Sol-Ark
Walk-Through and Setting Up Apps
Seeing the system in action
Today was an educational day, as I walked through with the system designer / installer as he labelled things and explained how they work. I intend to go through again and take pictures of things and do a full write-up but I want to just do a recap now while it's fresh.
Essentially I have two independent solar systems. On the larger of my two sheds, there are 57 panels, wired up with AC current with microinverters. This is the Enphase system. From there, they trenched wiring underground and into a combiner box, where the Enphase merges with the shop roof, consisting of 42 panels wired in DC into a Tigo box, then to the Sol-Ark 15k inverter system. From my understanding the Tigo is the monitoring box for the DC panels / emergency shutoff. There's a monitoring app for this but we don't have it configured yet.

By all accounts and everything I've seen on the internet, this Sol-Ark panel is the cat's meow. I lack the context to make any comparisons but the guys who work with this stuff most frequently seem in awe of this thing, so I'm inclined to take their word for it. It does indeed look well-made and very sturdy. We got to spin this up as well as the Enphase, and I hooked both up to my home network and got logged into the mobile apps for both units. Very cool stuff.
Here's what the Enphase Enlighten app looks like:

There's a bunch of snow on the panels right now soooo yeah it didn't produce much but hey! It produced something!
Logged into the Sol-Ark app as well but didn't take a screenie when it was actually producing power. Also the batteries are not hooked up yet so I'm gonna have to wait on those. More to come.
